GROWING UP GOD'S WAY FOR BOYS and GROWING UP GOD'S WAY FOR GIRLS by Dr. Chris Richards and Dr. Liz Jones

“Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”

In this Bible based book, Dr. Richards and Dr. Jones explain the growing up process for boy and girls. They explain that growing up is designed by God to prepare boys and girls for adulthood and eventually marriage. The chapters include An introduction to puberty, Puberty and how it starts, and Changes in the way you think.

“How your body changes” explains and shows illustrations of the genital area for boys and girls and how it works. Reference to 1 Corinthians 12:23 is given for the need to keep private areas covered and treat to treat those areas with special care.

Chapter 5: “How the body changes in girls” is reversed in the boys and girls versions of the book, and discusses what takes place inside the body with an illustrated diagram of the reproductive organs. An explanation of the menstrual cycle is discussed in the boys’ version of the book; and the genital area, speaking deeply, and hair in new places are discussed in the girls’ version of the book.

The Bible verse used for “Changes in the way you think” is “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways” (1 Corinthians 13:11). It encompasses growing in maturity, feeling moody, new attractions, and reasons for caution in an easily read manner for children to understand these changes. These books are an excellent method of enlightening a child to handle ‘growing pains’ in a normal fashion.

I recommend this book to parents as an aide in explaining the world of puberty for boys and girls with easy understanding, provoking a discussion of questions and answers. It discusses areas of concern and issues that children confront as they transfer into adulthood, and has respectable quality illustrations of the physical body.

I received this book free from the Cross Focused Reviewer program for an honest and unbiased opinion.
