SEAL TEAM SIX: HUNT THE JACKAL by Don Mann with Ralph Pezzullo

Lisa Clark is wife of Jesse Abrams Clark Senior Senator of Virginia and mother of Jesse Jr. and Olivia who is on vacation with Olivia in Arizona before she leaves for the fall semester at Duke University. Lisa and Olivia are separately enjoying the amenities in different rooms of the spa condominium when they are abducted by crewmembers of the narcoterrorist group Los Zetas whose leader is Ivan Jouma better known as The Jackal.

Meanwhile, the Black Cell navy seal team is in Syria attempting to locate and destroy a downed predator drone without the permission of Syrian government to enter the country. Crocker, Davis, Daly, and Mancini are dropped to the ground in the area of the drone and Ritchie and Cal remain on the helicopter (helio) with the pilot and co-pilot. The ground team has completed their mission and waiting for return of the helio at the previous agreed pickup time, which the helio never arrives. Crocker and Daly search for the missing aircraft and discover the wreckage with the pilot, co-pilot, and Ritchie dead in addition to Cal who has severe injuries that require immediate medical attention. After returning to the states, Black Cell has a new assignment to pinpoint the location of and rescue Senator Clark’s missing wife and daughter, Lisa and Olivia from their captor. The abductor Ivan Jouma (The Jackal) made it clear in a letter to Senator Clark that he will deliver a beheaded Lisa to him if forty Mexican criminal detainees are not released within three days. The Jackal has more than one purpose for kidnapping the Clark women and Black Cell must accelerate efforts of the rescue mission to prevent the hostage’s deaths and their own termination by the hands of the Los Zetos terrorist cluster.

Installment four of the SEAL Team Six series is an action-packed enjoyable read full of adventure novel in addition to the emotional excitement. This novel exposes a sentimental and emotive characteristic of team leader Crocker never before observed in the previous books of the series installment. I recommend this novel to fans of the SEAL Team Six series and military drama aficionados who seek engaging action reading in a day.

SEAL TEAM SIX: Hunt the Falcon by Don Mann with Ralph Pezzullo

John and Lenora Rhinehart have a son named Alex who is autistic with an exceptional high IQ. John, an economic counselor for the United States Embassy and Lenora an administrative assistant for the CIA are killed along with other officials in Rome Athens, Mumbai, and Cairo. The method used was a magnetic device attached to the rear bumper of their vehicles by terrorists riding motorcycles. Alex is told of his parents passing and decides to never again communicate verbally or interact with people.

The original team of Black Cell members Crocker, Davis, Ritchie, Mancini, Cal, and Daly are on assignment with seven new additional machine gunners when three of the seven new members, Douglas, Phillips, and Jake are injured during the mission and sent back to the United States for medical attention and recuperation.

Several missions and injuries later, Crocker, Mancini, and Daly are captured and tortured and Crocker devises a plan of escape releasing him and the other Black Cell members. Upon arrival on United States soil, Black Cell must follow the directive by the Commanding Officer for a mandatory vacation of six weeks before their next assignment. After the much-needed vacation, Black Cell receives a new assignment that leads to Alizadeh who is responsible for the vehicle bombings of United States Officials and a private personal visit with the son of John and Lenora Rhinehart.

The third installment of the SEAL Team Six series has several additional action and adventure fighting mission scenes than the previous two novels.  While enjoying this episode of adventures for the Black Cell team I felt there was an excessive amount of missions for just one novel. I recommend this book to readers of inside military works and those with navy seal adventures interest being it is an enjoyable read.

SEAL TEAM SIX: HUNT THE SCORPION by Don Mann

Jake McCallum captain of the Contessa 450-foot cargo ship is sailing with his wife Tanya and crew off the east coast of Africa when pirates seeking money and valuables hijack the cargo ship. The pirates retrieve money from the ship’s safe and were about to assault Jack’s wife when three Middle Eastern men with weapons appear requesting to see Jake’s cargo area bringing everything to a halt.

Meanwhile, Crocker and his team of Ritchie, Mancini, Daly, Davis, and a new member Calvin are on assignment in South Yemen to destroy a target named Ahmed. With their target in sight and ready to take action, headquarters aborts the mission and flies the team to the Gulf of Aden for a new assignment with need-to-know basis instructions. Crocker and his team of SEALS retrieve command of the ship and its super secret cargo from the terrorist pirates.

After the latest assignment, the team enters a footrace in Morocco for the next training exercise forcing withdrawal half a day from completion of the race for another mission located in Libya. In addition to the new Libya mission, Martyrs of the Revolution group for ransom abduct Crocker’s wife Holly who is a United States official and he must contend with the situation although he is not assigned to the rescue mission.

The next novel in the SEAL Team Six series is for a second time full of action and adventure as the team seeks and destroys targeted assignment activities. I am looking forward to reading the third and fourth installments, SEAL Team Six Hunt the Falcon and SEAL Team Six Hunt the Jackal of this four book military action and adventure series. I recommend booklovers of military engagement and escapades read the complete series of books even though each book reads as a standalone novel in its own right.

SEAL TEAM SIX: HUNT THE WOLF by Don Mann with Ralph Pezzullo

Tom Crocker and his team of Navy SEALS Daly, Davis, Maguire, Mancini, and Ritchie are assigned to hit number three al-Qaeda man Abu Rasul Zaman for the torturous murder of American reporter Steve Vogelman. While completing their mission Ritchie is injured and will not accompany the team afterwards for a planned vigorous mountain climb training exercise. Mancini has an accident during the training exercise and returns to camp joining his fellow teammate Ritchie for recovery. During the mountain climbing adventure, an associate named Edyta Potocka is killed in an avalanche and the death sorrowfully affects Daly.

Afterward Crocker meets with his commanding officer and is assigned another mission in Marseille to locate and rescue a missing girl from Norway at the request of the Norwegian government. Crocker’s commanding officer relays the mission as a failure after securing the intended kidnapped target and her captors are not seized and allowed to escape. Crocker will not settle for a failed mission once he realizes the abduction to be part of a larger scale human trafficking conspiracy involving the al-Qaeda and takes his team on another undercover mission to seek the perpetrators.

  

This novel is full of gunfire adventure with true SEAL language complete with definitions of each technical term used and explanation of weaponry usage. I enjoyed reading the action scenes of the SEAL team operation missions and the characters that portrayed them. I recommend this novel to avid readers of government special operative team narrative themes of seek and rescue operations including assassination assignments.

Why I Disagree with Stephen King and Will Continue to Publish E-Books Posted: 26 May 2013 03:17 AM PDT A few days ago, bestselling author Stephen King took the world by surprise when he announced that his latest book, Joyland, would only be available on paper.   "…let people stir their sticks and go to an actual bookstore rather than a digital one." This news came as a shock to me.  Stephen King has always been one of my heroes, a rather wise and clear-thinking representative of those two special groups of people called "readers" and "writers."   He is also one of the individuals who I considered to be a pioneer in electronic publishing, breaking new ground in 2000 by posting an e-book that was downloadable from his own website, and—a year later—becoming the first mainstream author to publish a novel solely as an e-book. I'm confused, Mr. King.   First, based on your comments to The Wall Street Journal, there seems to be an anti-technology undertone in your words.  When asked how your devoted readers can get your new book, you said "…let people stir their sticks and go to an actual bookstore rather than a digital one." With all due respect, Mr. King, my "stick" is doing just fine and does not need stirring.  If you're implying that technology is somehow "bad," I don't agree.  I love my tablet and smart phone and e-books every bit as much as you loved your ragged, dog-eared paperback books as a kid.    If you are implying that technology is making everyone fat and lazy, well, there may be some truth in that...but is there anything more sedentary than the mere act of reading itself?    The second reason I'm confused, Mr. King, is that there seems to be some sort of political motivation behind your decision, a "Save the Paper Books!" mentality, something akin to saving the whales. Paper books are not an endangered biological species—they are the result of technological advancements that took place a few centuries ago, which some folks resisted, just as some resist the transition to e-books today.  If you want to get political about this issue, it seems to me that a "Save the Trees!" campaign makes a lot more sense.   Butthe main reason I'm confused is that, as one of your loyal readers, your unexpected decision has a significant impact on me—a negative one.   I don't currently live in the United States and it will be weeks before I can get your new book.  The fastest way, despite your best intentions, will be for me to order it online, not go to a physical bookstore.  I resent the fact that I will not be able to push a button and have it the same day that it hits the bookshops in New York City.  I also resent the fact that you are trying to force me to read your book in a certain format—paper—instead of the format that I'm now comfortable with and is most convenient for me—e-books. I'm the author of over 20 thriller and suspense novels, and I will continue to publish in electronic form across all the e-reading platforms so that my fans can have access to my books as quickly and as easily as possible.
