NIV ONCE-A-DAY BIBLE for LEADERS, Zondervan

Zondervan publishes many bibles to enhance your journey, understanding, and strengthen your faith of the teachings and works of Jesus Christ during the ancient eras of our time. This particular bible supports leaders of the faith community through daily readings and words of encouragement to press forward spreading the Word of Christ to all.

Each daily reading has one scripture from the Old Testament, New Testament, verses from the Book of Proverbs or Book of Psalms, and a scripture related reflections for a short devotional. Further enhancing daily readings is a yearly reading plan, canonical index, and a Table of Weights and Measurements. There are no sermons added only a short reflective devotional paragraph to increase or provoke thoughts pertaining to strengthening your faith in God.

NIV Once-a-Day Bible for Leaders is a great tool for additional daily bible reading to encourage leaders in the faith community as they teach the Word of Christ to Christian followers  and for the layman who spreads the Word to friends and people wanting to know more about the Christian faith. I recommend to leaders of congregations, bible and home study groups, and anyone wanting to strengthen their walk with God.

MY BROTHER'S KEEPER by NLB Horton

Grace Madison is in Brussels when she learns that her daughter is missing in France and her daughter-in-law is attacked while in Switzerland. Once Maggie and Becca are found, a partial scroll is discovered and the undercover agent Madison family begins a journey following the trail to find the other half of the ancient relic. The hunt leads to several different locations in Venice, Rome, Germany, the Mediterranean, London, and Israel as they dodge bullets and would-be assassins searching for the same item.

The Brothers’ Keepers is the second installment in the Parched series that follows Grace Madison on archaeological adventures mixed with action that includes her immediate family members who are also CIA agents. The second book is full of locations associated with the discovered relic that pertain to King Solomon and a possible hidden water reservoir that could serve under-served eastern and third world countries. The theme is plausible and written with humor as the group travels from city to city with a budding romance in the making. The book is entertaining and an enjoyable read for adventure, action, light romance, and archaeological buff readers who will not be disappointed. The third installment in the series of novels due to be released in the fall of 2015 will probably continue the story where it ends in the second book.

PREACHING BY EAR by Dave McClellan with Karen McClellan

“Preaching by ear is this: speaking from personally held, deep convictions in a way that enables our words to unfold in the moment by considering the actual people present with us. We are well-prepared, but we’re not certain exactly how it will come out of our mouths.” -Dave McClellan

Dave McClellan with Karen McClellan have comprised  a ‘how-to’ on preaching by ear from within to the outside showing that true preaching should be lead by the inner spirit leading to an unscripted sermon. The book gives insight to present day preparation that Pastors use for weekly Sunday congregational sermons which sometimes includes fully written sermons to completely memorizing whatever is written.

Preaching by Ear shares history on homiletics citing Saint Augustine and Marcus Fabius Quintilianus as having great influence in teaching skilled oratory communication without the use of memorialized or written speech.
The book also discusses the fear of some preachers to speak from within as the quote above states, “not certain exactly how it will come out of our mouths.” In my opinion, this should not be a concern if what is spoken comes from within through the Spirit of God.

Another point in this book discusses the importance of ‘preaching by ear’ your personal trials and tribulations that people can relate in their own lives and understand that the deliverer of the sermon is not just talking, they are sharing the same experience as yourself.

This book is a good starting point to learn more regarding preaching from within to the outside that is not just for Pastors or teachers of faith but also for the layman to understand how the Word should be presented to a faithful following.

I will end my review with another quote from Preaching by Ear:

“Preaching by ear, from the inside out, pushes me toward stronger internal character and internally driven sermons. When it’s risky or scary, it opens us up to that kind of help Jesus talked about when the words will be given to us as a gift, and not from our own wit. Keep on preaching like that.”

Then there's the tall, dangerous woman who shadows her and hints a Goddess has linked them. And what is she going to do with a handsome, charismatic, womanizing man she knows she should avoid?

Some days a girl just wants to pull the covers over her head and stay in bed -- with a willing young man of course.

Publication Date: June 25, 2012

Book 2 of the Telepathic Clans Saga, the sequel to the multiple 5-star reviewed The Succubus Gift.

It's not easy being a succubus.

Brenna O'Donnell and Rebecca Healy continue their integration into the Clan. Learning more about their Gifts and always seeking someone who will love them. After a crash course in learning about her genetic heritage, Brenna O'Donnell has discovered what it really means to be a succubus and has learned to embrace her strange Gift. Her major concern is whether Collin will accept her for what she is. As she adjusts to telepathic society, others in the Clan have plans that will strip the last of her freedom.

The social season is around the corner, including events that Brenna never imagined in her wildest dreams. The succubi, representatives of the Goddess on earth, are at the center of an ancient worship. And if a girl is going to be the center of attention, then obviously she needs a new dress.

Between the romance and glistening balls of the Clan's social events, Brenna and Rebecca discover life is not secure. Telepaths from other Clans are kidnapping young girls and selling them into slavery.

A continuation of what one reviewer called an, "... utterly heart stopping onslaught of sex, violence and paranormal abilities ..."

Publication Date: September 29, 2013

Private investigator RB Kendrick makes her living nailing cheating spouses, digging up other dirt to help in a divorce, finding long-lost relatives, and occasionally sniffing out criminal activity and fraud.

When she takes a job to find a missing girl, she has no idea she is headed for the most dangerous case of her career. Usually, her ability to read minds gives her an edge. But when the people she’s hunting are also telepaths, that advantage is limited.

The search takes her into the dark underbelly of telepathic society, where anything, and anyone, is for sale. She discovers that telepathic women and girls are being trafficked as the ultimate sex slaves.

With people trying to kill her, she’s on the run, not knowing who she can trust. Will she find the missing girl, or become a victim herself?

A novel of paranormal suspense set in the world of the Telepathic Clans.

Publication Date: February 14, 2013

Book 3 of the Telepathic Clans Saga, Succubus Rising

The Goddess has plans for Brenna and Rebecca, and the Goddess has a wicked sense of humor.

Rebecca Healy is a true wilder, growing up with no contact or knowledge of other telepaths. Discovered by a Clan member on the streets of San Francisco, she felt like she’d hit the jackpot. Finally, she knew what she was, or at least she thought she did.

When Brenna O’Donnell, long-lost heir of the O’Donnell Clan, and the strongest telepath in history, is returned to her family, she and Rebecca form a tight bond. Brenna has it all, looks, money, power, and men falling all over her.

Rebecca isn’t jealous, but it would be nice to find someone who would really love her and stick around in the morning. She’s intrigued by a handsome South American general, but of course, he has his sights set on Brenna. Carlos de Vargas wants more than love. His Clan has its back to the wall, and they hope for an alliance with O’Donnell. An alliance that would lead to war.

The story began in The Succubus Gift and continued in Succubus Unleashed. In Succubus Rising, questions are answered and new mysteries are revealed.

Publication Date: November 8, 2014

Book 4 of The Telepathic Clans Saga

Corwin has led Clan O’Neill for one hundred and fifty years. Nearing the end of his long life, he names a twenty-three year old girl as his heir. Not only is Brenna a member of Clan O’Donnell, she’s also a succubus, and many people disagree with his choice. When Corwin dies, his son Hugh launches an open rebellion.

But Brenna is named heir not only to O'Neill, but also to Clan O'Byrne, where Clan Chief Fergus's oldest son Andrew joins with Hugh and Finnian O’Neill in their rebellion. Faced with war on two fronts, and rebels using terrorist tactics that capture the attention of the human press and authorities, Brenna must fight off assassination attempts while trying to consolidate her rule.

As if all that wasn't exciting enough, her friend Irina is the target of repeated kidnapping attempts by members of a Russian Clan. Hoping to protect Irina, O’Donnell mounts an operation against the Gorbachev Clan. But the situation in Russia is no more stable than in Ireland, and they discover Irina is at the heart of the Russian Clans' internal plots.

Confused yet? Be glad you aren't Brenna and Rebecca, as they—along with Rhiannon, Irina, and the Irish Clans—attempt to sort through the mess in Succubus Ascendant, the action-packed conclusion of The Telepathic Clans Saga.

CLP BLOG TOURS presents PETIT FOUR Book Blitz

Cake is often a major part of life’s celebrations, both big and small. From birthdays to wedding days, cake, in all its delectable concoctions, marks joyous occasions with a sweetness that can’t be beat. But even better is the love that is shared when two people connect over a sweet confection. Maybe it’s a cute new guy wreaking havoc on a broken heart, or a beautiful woman testing the limits of love, or an old beau stirring up long lost desires. Whatever the circumstances, cake can always be relied upon to save the day when it comes to affairs of the heart. In this collection of short stories, cake is the delicious center around which each tale unfolds and romance blooms.

When single mom and journalist, Olivia, sets out to find romance in Cindy Arora’s “Cake Therapy,” she gets a little help from her friends and more than a few slices of cake to coax her off the couch and into the arms of a truly great love. Lucie Simone’s “Aprez Vous” finds success-driven Tara in Paris reminiscing of her long lost love, Jean Marc, and her niece bound and determined to reunite them. In “The Heart-Shaped Secret of Raspberry Jam” by Sue Watson, cake enthusiast, Milly, meets her match in the kitchen, and other places, when new owners take over the tea rooms where she works and her talents and her heart are put to the test. And Scott, mayor of a small seaside community, flirts with political suicide in Joel Zlotnik’s “Her Charms” when he falls for new-in-town Nicole, an entrepreneur with a passion for cupcakes, and whose latest venture proves a little too sexy for the sleepy beach town.
From San Francisco to Paris, from small towns to tea rooms, this anthology tempts readers with humor, style, romance, and the powerful aphrodisiac that is cake. Petit Four is four stories, frosted with love.

So she quit the day job, baked a year’s supply of cupcakes and chased the dream. What followed was a lot of cake and many hours in the company of ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey,’  ‘The Biggest Loser,’ and ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians.’ During this, time Sue also managed to write a few books too:  Fat Girls and Fairy CakesYounger, Thinner, Blonder; Love, Lies and Lemon Cake; and her latest cake offering,Snow Angels, Secrets and Christmas Cake. PROSECCO PINK by Traci Andrighetti

Franki Amato and best friend who happens to be her employer, Veronica Maggio work at Private Chicks, Inc. a private detective agency located in New Orleans are hired to investigate the murder of a woman found at the Oleander Place antebellum plantation by owner Delta Dupre. The murdered woman is Ivanna Jones who owns Lickilious Lips, a liquor-flavored lip gloss company was found in the exact position as the poisoned second wife of General Knox Patterson named Evangeline. Delta is a descendant of General Patterson and wants to keep her tourist attraction and family legacy and name in tact before the murder costs Oleander Place lost revenue.

Meanwhile, Franki accidently meets Chandra, a psychic who is afraid of ghosts but has a vision relating to Franki’s personal life involving her boyfriend Bradley that seems a little coincidental for her comfort. As Franki begins her murder investigation, Chandra has more visions pertaining to Oleander Place that includes clues about Evangeline and Ivanna. Franki is not one to believe in psychic powers, crystal balls, or fortune telling but maybe in this case she could be wrong.

Prosecco Pink is an entertaining novel written with mystery and humor that all mystery-suspense with a little romance booklovers will want to include on their reading lists. New Orleans as a backdrop for the novel was truly an ingenious move with the psychic powers and moon crescent scenes that are not my normal reading genre but every booklover should enjoy. This book is a cute and sweet murder- mystery romance novel and cannot wait for the movie!

THE KILLER NEXT DOOR by Alex Marwood

Collette is on the run and moves into the apartment of a woman named Nikki who disappeared and has not been seen for a few weeks. Nikki’s belongings are still in place that include clothes, a television and all other personal effects a person would have if living in a humble studio apartment house. Nikki’s neighbor and friend Cher believes Nikki left in a hurry due to the fact she was not able to pay her rent for the month-to-month dwelling.
Meanwhile, The Lover is busy buying supplies and tools for his project that he is working on with several women victims he keeps in his apartment without the knowledge of the other residents and already has his eye on another ‘girlfriend’ he plans on getting to know a little better.

Okay first let me say that I did not finish this novel being it reminded of a movie I once saw and changed the channel because I knew it would cause me to have unwanted nightmares and that is how I felt about this book. Now with that said, it should not stop you from reading this novel because of my not wanting nightmares but as I read Chapter 14 I could not go on with all the intimate details The Lover describes about his victims. I cannot state this novel is a bad book but that it is worth the read for those who like all the gory details in murder and suspense drama stories that I cannot stomach. Enjoy!

I received this book free from Penguin Group through the Net Galley reviewer program for an honest opinion in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission Guidelines.

LOVE WITHOUT END by Robin Lee Hatcher

Chet Leonard deals with the fact his wife left him and their two sons a ranch in King’s Meadow years ago which they call home and does not know where she presently resides. Anna McKenna once lived on this same ranch from the time she was a teenager and taken in by Chet’s grandparents Abe and Violet Leonard in 1944. When Anna comes to visit after her husband passes, Chet asks her to consider staying with them in hoping the boys will receive a grandmother’s love that is much needed.

Kimberly Welch lost her husband to a sudden heart attack and with no way of making ends meet travels to King’s Meadow along with her daughter Tara to stay with her best friend Janet until she can build a nest egg to return to Seattle. Janet suggests that Tara take lessons from Chet to learn necessary care and proper riding techniques for the horse Tara owns. Chet agrees to teaching Tara, Anna agrees to stay on the ranch for a while, Kimberly fights her feelings for Chet, and Chet’s sons reconcile after a huge misunderstanding as they all handle a tragedy that occurs at Chet’s ranch.

Love Without End tells of friendship, memories, grievance, and love on a ranch in the town of King’s Meadow that is a well written novel that takes you on a journey from 1944 to present day. I recommend to book lovers of western romance, family relationships, and faith-based novels for an easy and enjoyable read on a cozy afternoon.
