How can one person attract so much disaster? 

Quirky, clumsy, and eager-to-please Karly has more than her fair share of bad luck. 

Waaaay more. 

We first meet our 29-year-old accountant in her loud (the fire alarm is going off) and smoky (she’s trying to bake) kitchen. During the chaos, Karly is dumped because of misunderstandings over a divorce lawyer she didn't hire and an affair she didn't have. This comes just weeks after performing a very efficient audit on a company…that wasn't actually a client. 

Oops. 

Single and unemployed, Karly continues tripping through life, both metaphorically and physically. She thinks her luck may be turning when she meets the perfect man but in true-to-Karly form, manages to scare him off. And he isn’t just “not returning her phone calls” scared but more “sprinting away across the parking lot screaming like a banshee” scared. 

Crap. 

Just as she thinks it can't get any worse, it inevitably does. Is Karly destined to lead a life of loneliness and poverty or does fate have something else in mind?

Author Bio: 

Michelle Morgan was born in Vancouver, Canada. She has years of experience falling down for no reason and may have left a wrap-around skirt or two caught in a date's car door. She currently lives in the Caribbean with her husband, Peter, and their three children, Kiara, Leilani and Kai. 

Oh - and a three year old goldfish named Angel, who her kids haven't noticed looks different every time they come back from visiting Nana and Grandpa in the summer.

Michelle is passionate about theatre - watching, writing for, and acting in. Although she enjoys it all, she favours comedy. She is a black belt in karate, a classical pianist, and is addicted to pilates and pad thai.

AT BLUEBONNET LAKE by Amanda Cabot

Kate Sherwood is in the business of marketing living in a big city when her grandmother, Sally Fuller, decides to vacation at the resort she and her husband stayed fifty years ago before his passing and invites Kate as her travelling companion. Once arriving at Rainbow’s End, Kate is more than disappointed with the resort and its deteriorating appearance wishing she had never agreed to stay for a month’s time. Kate is surprised when she meets the assumed handyman Greg whom she immediately has interest but seeking a relationship is not on her things to do list. As the days slowly pass by, Rainbow’s End with its beautiful surroundings begin to grow on Kate and her feelings for Greg intensify.

Things become a little complicated when Kate has to make a decision regarding her job and a promotion she has been waiting for arises. Does she go home or stay where love is?

At Bluebonnet Lake is a story of love in the right place with rich beautiful scenery as a backdrop. The novel has great description narrative but I felt the story was drawn out just a little bit too long but still an enjoyable read. I recommend to romantics whose hearts are as big as Texas in which the setting is placed.

LEAN BRANDING by Laura Busche

Lean Branding covers what branding does for your business and you in the world of consumers. Laura Busche shares her expertise on brand building strategies to develop a plan that will render a successful venture in the field of consumer attraction. Having consideration for your target audience, main competitor, and the differences between you and your competitor are key factors in building your company or organization’s brand.

To begin building your brand Ms. Busche encourages using a ‘positioning map’ that shows competitors and why your brand stands above the rest. This is a useful tool for business after brand building to continue strategizing efforts in comparing competitor strategy. The positioning map used in addition with the ‘Measuring Traction and Identity’ section of the book could detect valuable information for any company’s ‘Brand Redesigning’ if needed. In addition, ‘Rechanneling’ is covered with information on branding and media use of Websites, Online Catalogs, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram to name a few.

I find Lean Branding would be a great addition and enhance any company library of business and strategy bookshelf. This would be a great starting point for new business owners to begin a business plan to give direction before approaching their venture. The book contains valuable information and written in easy to understand language that will not have you reaching for a dictionary.

UNLOCKING THE MYSTERY by Eden Baylee

Evelyn Sutton is a real estate agent with no outside life or time to find love while selling a house to Caroline, who passes prompting Evelyn to purchase the home. Evelyn finds a key Caroline left in the closet that opens a box of love letters spanning over fifty years to Caroline’s pen pal Shane who lives in Ireland. She is in awe after reading the love letters finding one unopened letter addressed to Shane that Caroline never mailed and embarks on a journey to Ireland to deliver it to him. Once in Ireland, Evelyn is taken in by the beautiful countryside and its inhabitants discovering a new way of looking at love and the people around her.

This short story of lasting devotion, friendship, and affection through the art of writing love letters is an original story line that is enjoyable and may be finished within an hour or two at the most. The only problem I had with the book was a few choice words used seemed out of place that disconnected from the flow of the story. I recommend Unlocking the Mystery to romance, chick lit, and love story genre readers for a lazy day or weekend reading.

SAFE & SOUND by T.S. Krupa

Jill and Jay have been happily married for two years when Jay goes for a morning run only to be struck by a vehicle resulting in dependence upon life support devices with Jill making one of the hardest decisions in her life. Jill make the hard choice to remove life support and the journey of mourning takes over her happy outlook on life.

Harry, Jay’s best friend, is helpful to Jill in the grievance process until he makes a forward move and reveals the love he has for her and wants to pick up where Jay left off in their marriage. Jill rejects his advances causing Harry in his wayward thoughts that with a little convincing there still may be a chance for him and Jill to be together. While Harry’s confession of love was startling, Jill discovers that Jay kept certain secrets that become increasingly shocking as they are slowly revealed to her.

SSafe & Sound is a story of grievance, friendship, and love that never ends when a spouse passes on. The storyline and plot are good but for one reason or another, I could not connect with the main character Jill’s grieving process and the way her character could not perform the necessary and normal functions of planning a funeral, that part seemed too unreal. I am recommending this novel for romance genre readers who will find it easy to read in a few hours time.

Diana lives in the balmy climate of the US south with her husband, two children, two dogs, two cats, and a cantakerous rabbit.  She enjoys reading, sewing (clothing, costuming, and experimental toy making), and RPG games. The idea for Feyron started with a map, a place for her daughter to tell stories and live out storytelling role playing adventures with her friends.  The lore grew around the map, for every world needs lore if you are going to “live” there.  The idea for a series, Tales from Feyron, grew out of the lore, for if you’re going to invent a world, you may as well play there too.  The stories are continuing to grow through the various historical ages of Feyron and may yet “ripple” outwards to the Worlds Beyond touched by magic.

Even though I use a King James Version bible for all initial reading and study, I found The NKJV Study Bible: Full-Color Edition is a nice complement to my ‘thee and thou’ version. Those who wish to read and study in a further clear English edition will enjoy using this newer translation version for a better understanding of the scriptures is highly recommended.
