Audrey and Grant Whitman have just finished renovating their home previously shared with the five children they raised into a bed and breakfast named The Chicory Inn. All the Whitman children are returning home for the grand opening of the inn except Timothy who passed away and their daughter Landyn and her husband Chase. Audrey and Grant do not know Landyn is attending the grand opening after leaving Chase and New York towing a U-Haul truck with her belongings.
Landyn and Chase have been married for six months and he made a major decision without consulting her resulting in the separation and Landyn heading back to her hometown in Missouri. Even though Landyn harbors a major secret of her own neither are willing to give in immediately adding to the already long list of problems besieging the couple. Landyn’s parents and siblings offer encouragement by suggesting prayer and communication to work through their situation without making any rash decisions leading to regrets on both their parts.
Home to Chicory Lane is a faith-based novel of young newlyweds learning the meaning of growth, trust, and faith in marriage and themselves personally while successfully working together as one. The story line is plausible but I could not connect with the main character Landyn who is a bit overly insecure in the area of being decisive. My favorite characters are Audrey and Grant Whitman seemed very interesting and I would have loved to read about the parents and the behavior of guests at The Chicory Lane Inn. I recommend to book lovers who read novels of family and marriage relationships that are in the faith-based genre.
I received this book free from the publisher through the Litfuse reviewer program in exchange for an honest opinion in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission guidelines.
